55+ Communities: The Benefits of Active Living

BY MEGAN MCNULTY

Ivory Homes has announced the release of several affordable 55+ communities. One of these communities is located within Daybreak, a community that is ranked as one of the 50 Best Master Planned Communities in the nation by Where to Retire Magazine.

  • Housing communities designed specifically for people ages 55+ have officially hit Utah. Why the age restriction? Because Utah is the sixth fastest growing state in the nation for people ages 65 and older, according to the Ken C. Gardner Policy Institute at the University of Utah.

As a large portion of Utah’s population ages, the need for affordable housing projects that meet the needs of this new audience is emerging to the forefront of policy maker’s agendas. Local home builders have been tasked to find ways to create appealing senior communities in Utah, rather than just cater to young families that are flocking to state’s growing communities.

With these findings in mind, Ivory Homes has announced the release of several affordable 55+ communities. One of these communities is located

  • within Daybreak, a community that is ranked by Where to Retire Magazine as one of the 50 Best Master Planned Communities in the U.S.

These communities are well- designed with residents’ needs in mind. Those who are 55+ are attracted to these communities because they have been proven to be retirement-friendly due to low-maintenance demands and access to pristine amenities like clubhouses that include exercise rooms, tennis courts and swimming pools.

These community designs also promote an active living lifestyle with nearby walking trails, lakes and biking trails as well as shopping and entertainment centers. They feature unique weekly events that cater to different interests and hobbies, creating the perfect environment for seniors to connect with people their own age.

We love being around these people in the community — they’re fabulous. We’ve made some very fast friends.”

— Ted Phillips, a resident who moved out to Garden Park at Daybreak with his wife, Diane, just over a year ago.

Seniors who are looking for an easy-living lifestyle should seriously consider these new 55+ communities. This is the most care-free time of life to develop an active lifestyle and foster new friendships in an all- inclusive community.

I didn't know some communities are retirement-friendly so the houses are low-maintenance and have access to activities anyone would enjoy like swimming and exercise rooms. My dad would love to hang out with people his age and have similar interests, so I'll look into adult communities, thanks to this post! Read Less
